Finding Balance

Every September is the beginning of a new chapter (New Years resolutions are overrated).  New season, new style, new projects, new focus and new routines.  Only several months ago I began a fresh journey and it has been an incredible awakening for the soul and so thankful for every moment;  Challenges, opportunities and discoveries.

The most important thing that I have learned is this:  Take every opportunity that comes your way.  Simple, right?  Well, it has a higher impact than you think.  When you embrace this, not only do you prevent the question “What if?” but the possibilities that come from it are exciting.  If the outcome is negative, turn it into a positive by learning from it, there is no time like the present to learn what you are capable of or what you are surrounded by.  Create your own opportunities.

Having several goals and dreams to conquer in this life, I am enjoying it day by day, but I work hard.  Dedication, commitment, persistency, focus and confidence are only a few traits you need to own.  Often I hear that I am doing too much at once or that some goals are too difficult to achieve, but my determination does not give me the option to give up.  I will continue to work hard to get to where I want to be.

Always stand for what you believe in, sometimes that means you have to stand alone.

Next week I begin a new route in this awesome journey when I begin school full time to pursue my passion!  No words can explain my excitement.  With being a full time student, it’s going to be next to impossible to shop… I know, first world problems, right?   However, I am looking forward to the challenge of experimenting and coming up with new looks with what I have already.  With that said, stay tuned to see what I come up with!  These outfits will be under a new category, which will be announced next week.

Now lets turn our attention to the outfit…

‘Finding Balance’ is fitting for the chosen outfit, this one is my “go-to” right now.  Black and white is classic, so crisp and versatile, as said before in previous posts.  However, with fashionable-proportions it’s important for the pieces to balance with each other.  If one is loose fitting, for example my voluminous top, than another piece should be more structured with fit (my form-fitting leggings), otherwise it looks sloppy.

Seeing Double

Being obsessed with these BCBG sandals made my decision for this ensemble effortless, however, they bring the outfit together.  For an edgy touch I wore my long ALDO Aztec necklace because the length compliments the longer top and the clutch is a softer touch complimenting the mixed metals and fierce shoes.

Bliss

One of my favourite quotes is by power woman Kelly Cutrone, “It’s not a breakdown, It’s a breakthrough.”  The last few months have been a challenge for my soul to say the least.  I embraced the pain, welcomed the hurt and faced the fear realizing an opportunity had been handed to start over and begin again.  I can’t say that I believe everything happens for a reason, but I can tell you that only yourself holds the power to stand up after you had fallen.  ‘Fortunate’ is an understatement when describing how I feel to have such amazing loved ones in my life and inspiring mentors to look up to.  Now I feel free, truly resilient and that I can conquer anything.

Your regrets aren’t what you did, but what you didn’t do.  Love with your whole heart when you feel hurt, share kindness when you feel the world is being cruel and know that you are never alone.

Fashion is a lifestyle, with that said my personal style has been exuding how I feel after the storm: Bliss.  This is my favourite outfit currently.  It’s simple yet chic; the subtle colours from the accessories, flowing top and simple heel will take you from day to night for all of your spontaneous Spring adventures!

How many opportunities do you get to shop Vancouvers most stylish? None!  Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the shopping event at The Four Seasons Hotel, ‘Deck Your Closet,’ organized by ‘Alicia Fashionista’ Quan, Alexandra Grant of To Vogue or Bust, Jen Tam of Her Waise Choice and Prairie Girl in the City, Jennifer Piston, the group also known as the “Canadian collective of fashion tastemakers and influencers” – The Style Common.

This event was a delight with everything a girl loves in a beautifully lit banquet room; clothing, accessories, makeup, hair tricks, christmas music and, of course, candy!  Not only did I get to rome through fellow bloggers’ closets, but also had the pleasure of meeting local designers/bloggers Carolina of Love Coco, ‘The Doctors Closet’ Monika Hibbs of BFriend Bracelets, Miss Melissa, and, my dear friend, Georgia Heraty of Social Experiment.

In between shopping (and sneaking in a few goodies!) I made a stop in the Revlon Lip Lounge where Erin of The Sparkle and Blanche MacDonald Makeup Artists pampered us with rouge, which made me feel like a million bucks!  Since I don’t wear a lot of makeup, Erin taught me how to properly apply red lipstick and helped me pick the right shade for my skin tone.

I had a lovely time at Deck Your Closet and already looking forward to the next event when I can see all of these inspiring fashionistas and beauticians again!
